Finnish Right Wing Goverment Attacks Welfare and Trade Unions

Finnish trade unions are facing a major attack on employment and welfare rights by the right wing Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and her Deputy Prime Minister Riikka Purra who she defended recently after the uncovering of racist and violent remarks.

Purra who is also Finland’s finance minister was found to have published racist and violent remarks under a pseudonym 15 years ago about Black people with demeaning comments about poor people.

After years of post war stability and prosperity the Orpa government/coalition with the extremist far-right Finns Party has lauched a wide ranging attack on employment and welfare rights in an effort to create social tension and break Finalnd’s traditionally strong trade unions.

Published below is a list from the SAK Union Confederation of 18 unions in Finland outlining the proposals from the right wing Finnish government.
