The Tories have fired starting gun on what they say will be negotiations to â€˜repatriate powers relating to social and employment lawsâ€™. The “powers” they have in mind include laws related to working time (including paid holidays); agency workers; maternity and childcare rights and health & safety.
On 26th February theÂ IPPR will be holding a debate fronted by Â LÃ¡szlÃ³ Andor, European commissioner for employment, social affairs and inclusion, who will deliver a keynote speech on the topic â€˜Living standards in Europe and the importance of social investmentâ€™. Also on the platform will beÂ Frances Oâ€™Grady, General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress.
